Identifying The Need
Polymers and waxes are usually employed by the pharmaceutical
industry for coating solid dosage forms. However, since
waxes have poor water affinity, their use is restricted
as a molten liquid form that involves application of
heat and requires special equipment for coating or as
solutions in organic solvents that have environmental
and cost implications. Hence a need arises to develop
technology which can overcome these limitations, so
that waxes can be used for various coating applications
in pharmaceutical products.
The
Rubicon Research Solution
Rubicon Research's RubiCoatTM
technology offers a stable, smooth, aqueous dispersion
of wax that can be employed for coating, using conventional
equipments. RubiCoatTM
comprises of a wax or a combination of waxes emulsified
in water using an emulsifying agent. A plasticiser is
included to facilitate the formation of a continuous
uniform film. RubiCoatTM
can be utilised effectively for stabilisation of drugs,
delayed, pulsatile and extended release of active ingredients,
taste-masking, product identification and various other
functions. |
